BT2S Pair with a Mac

I am trying to pair my BT2S with my Macbook (Broadcom chipset, product ID 0x8213) and I can’t seem to see the module.  I do not have it hooked up to a serial port just yet, is that required before being able to pair?

You don’t have to have it hooked up to anything, but the most critical thing is that you not have the device paired with a master, and that the BT2S you have be a slave.

If that is the case, then the most likely cause for the issue is that you don’t have the device powered correctly, or you need to update your bluetooth stack.

Once you are able to pair with the Virtuabotix BT2S Slave, your connection LEDs won’t go solid until a terminal application of some kind has connected to the serial port. When successful the red LED should go solid, and indicate that the connection is active. If in doubt at that point, simply shunt the TX and RX pins together and see if you get what you type returned back. Hope that helps.
